Hello JP,
Welcome to Kubuntu. Translations for Ubuntu and Kubuntu are managed in
Rosetta. I suggest that you join the docteam mailing list and visit the IRC
channel. For information about the docteam and how to subscribe to mailing
lists please visit www.ubuntulinux.org/wiki/DocumentationTeam
I don't know much about Rosetta, its a bit of a black box to me. All I know is
that we put in POT files and get back translated PO files. I believe there is
also a French translation team. The best person on the docteam to instruct
you on how to contribute to translations is Mathew East (mdke on irc). I have
cc'd Matthew on this message. He represents docteam on matters related to
i18n.
We currently have a few books on Kubuntu under development in our version
control repository (svn). If you are interested in helping, let us know and
we will get you started :-)
Welcome to Kubuntu.
