It is not a home page for the wiki (which is 
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FrontPage) but a home page for the Documentation on 
the wiki.

All passwords and authentication for any ubuntu.com websites are handled in 
launchpad. You use your launchpad account to log into the wiki. If you need 
to make an account or recover a lost password, this is done in launchpad 
too.
