Subject: OpenICDL Release 1.0
Hi all,
Been busy, busy with OpenICDL, not seeing any commits on ubuntu and kubuntu
docs, what's up with that?
OpenICDL is an open source project that aims to develop and maintain a
Free/Open Source version of the training materials used to ready students for
the International Computer Driving License certification.
OpenICDL Courseware is aimed at new computer and linux users.
Version 1.0 is an official release approved by the ICDL Foundation for
training students wishing to take ICDL certifications. Current courseware
includes the following modules:
ICDL Module 1 - Concepts of Information Technology
ICDL Module 2 - Using a Computer and Managing Files with K Desktop Environment
ICDL Module 3 - Word Processing using OpenOffice.org Writer
ICDL Module 4 - Spreadsheets using OpenOffice.org Calc
ICDL Module 6 - Presentations using OpenOffice.org Impress
ICDL Module 7 - Information and Communication using Mozilla 1.4 and Ximian
Evolution 1.4
Module 5 - OpenOffice.org Database was not missed, it is in the development
trunk.
Full source is available in Docbook XML. If you are interested in scratching
an itch or just have fun developing courseware, stop by and introduce
yourself. The project has only been live for one week, so there is scope for
lots of ideas and millions of ways to participate with contributions.
One itch ppl here may be interested in scratching is the development of a
module 2 aligned with Ubuntu and of course gnome :-) A Kubuntu version is
brewing, I hope and I already have a contribution for Module 2 RedHat/Fedora.
Well the challenge is up.
Oh btw, translation of release 1.0 will be in Rosetta shortly, thanks to
carlos and jordi.
Argghh!!! I gotta get a life ....
Enjoy,
Oh and enrico will find some time to create a debian package and if all goes
well we will get OpenICDL 1.0 into Debian.
