Ubuntu it too much similar to Debian, so I figure basing it on some
debian material not only would speed up the production process as you
might already have something to start from, but would also nurture
back the Debian project, which we owe our life due to the huge amount
of effort that got integrated into Ubuntu. I would like to see a
documentation team in which care taken to maximize the possibility of
feeding the upstream, i.e. debian in that matter. Enrico already noted
that if we were to rewrite everything , this "would be disrespect to
the already greats stuff out there" and I agree with him. I think that
maybe taking debian's book, giving some touch to it, improve it and
then base the ubuntu book on it would be far better and beneficial to
both communities.
