Hi Alex. I think it's a good idea not to have everything parented under
the front page; it's too much information. You can either reparent
things under AllPages, as you suggested, or up to the top level, and
just use the "wiki contents" view. Members do have permission to do
this. Here's one way:
- go to FrontPage
- click on one of the child pages
- scroll down to the page management form at the bottom ("new parent,
name, replacement, subtopic:")
- enter the name or part of the name of the new parent, eg your
AllPages. Or leave the field blank, to move the page up to top level
- click the reparent button
Note you just need to reparent the immediate children, such as
Accessibility, Conference etc. That's still a lot of pages, so here is a
labour-saving tip: deleting a page causes all children to be reparented
under its parent. So:
- edit FrontPage and copy it's source text
- reparent FrontPage under AllPages, if you want
- delete FrontPage (I have reenabled this permission for you). All
children will be moved under FrontPage's parent.
- re-create FrontPage and paste back the source text
Finally, there is an alternative: disable the subtopics listing
throughout the wiki. Personally I would leave it on as it helps people
discover content.
