Thanks for pointing that out.
https://code.edge.launchpad.net/~vcs-imports/mplayer/trunk does seem
to be importing it happily so it's an interesting question.

At the moment mplayer has something over 140 bugs in Ubuntu and ffmpeg
has 24.  The hotness ranking was by bug activity.  So it's plausible
to me that mplayer would make the cut and ffmpeg didn't.
