I saw a blog entry announcing a prject from RedHat to build an
integrated-kind-of directory server and services. It is called freeipa
(Free Identity, Policy and Audit). It might be of interest to
colaborate with them in what is possible so that no effort is done
twice on the same thing.

Hope it helps! from outside it looks reaaaly cool and nice, certainly
something that Linux has been in need for several years now.
