Currently accessibility in Ubuntu Karmik with Orca
is very bad. here are some suggestions.
1. remove pulseaudio and use alsa
instead; in the Ubuntu coming out in April 2010.
2. Add alsaMixer to the top
panel.
3. add keyboard shortcuts to change master volume up and down.
4.
Add a talking boot menu.
5. if talking boot menu cannot be added, make Ubuntu
playy a beep at the boot-prompt so user knows when to hit enter f5 3 enter enter
to start live cd with accessibility.
6. add shortcuts to boot menu control
f5 to run orca with live cd, control f6 for orca to run with the installer.
control f7 for braille support only and so on.
finally, take a look at the
vinux development blog for other ideas. I would rather not use Vinux because it
uses a version of Orca and Gnome that are 2 or 3 years old. Please make Ubuntu
more accessible in the April 2010 version of Ubuntu.
