Ubuntu Desktop transition from LightDM to GDM

If the prompt is removed how user will make lightdm default display 
manager when switching from gdm3 to lightdm? Will  'sudo 
dpkg-reconfigure lightdm' still work? Beside many users have multiple 
sessions installed. How will it work in this case?
