Default policy for "Security Updates" changed between Trusty and Xenial

discussion.
In "Software Properties" the default option for Security Updates is now
set to "Download and install immediately".
I have described the impact of this policy and my personal
recommendations regarding what do do about it in the following bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unattended-upgrades/+bug/1700930
I'd be interested in knowing the community's thoughts on this matter.
