I (personally) hate directories that only have one entry. They make me
descend down through a pile of them before I can do anything for what I
feel is no good reason.

A good reason might be if there's a realistic chance that something else
will need to go there, AND it makes logical sense to break things down
that way. Otherwise, if there's something that you feel is important to
point out, I'd prefer to see it done in a README rather than by
overloading directory components for documentation.

The only people digging in there would I think be expected to know what
it is for, or otherwise expected to find and read the README before
assuming anything.

So IMHO there should be only one component, with a suitable name, with
an optional README inside explaining anything that is needed.
