- From what I can see, cryptsetup is still oddball, but most non cryptsetup boots involve letting udev take care of whatever needs doing to make the root device appear, then init mounts the root, and passes off to the real init, without any polling sleep loops or udevadm settles.  I think that meets the definition of mostly.  Aside from cryptsetup, what is still not event based?
