dbus-python test suite failures (in upstream)

In the process of porting dbus-python to Python 3, I've run across a problem
in the upstream's test suite, and I'm at a loss at how to proceed. I'm hoping
there's a dbus expert out there that can at least provide some ideas of where
to look next. The bug in question:

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43303

You can probably reproduce this by cloning the upstream
git://anongit.freedesktop.org/dbus/dbus-python then running autogen.sh, make,
and `make check`.

I've tried this on both Ubuntu 11.10 and Debian Squeeze and get the same
failures. I've not gotten a response from upstream on the bug report so I
don't know if the test suite actually works anywhere. :/

While I don't want to let this block my progress, it's quite frustrating, and
its presence reduces my confidence that my port is complete.

Cheers,
-Barry
