Just FYI,
I've just installed[*] Ubuntu 10.10 on my old Apple PowerMac dual 2.7 G5.
Once again Ubuntu breaths new life into old mostly-dead hardware! In any
case, I'm creating the schroots now and I've added it as a stable Python
buildbot, so I intend to keep it up and running (albeit in a room in the house
where I don't care about the excessive heat and noise ;).
Meaning: if you notice any build problems on PPC, ping me and I'll try to test
things out locally.
Cheers,
-Barry
[*] After much hand-wringing due to thermal overload crashing, I performed a
wonderful, complex, obscure, and highly technical hardware fix. I dusted. :)
Yep, there was a layer of dust caked across the air intake port in the cpu
compartment preventing the machine from cooling itself.
