Is it worth back porting PEP 3147 to Python < 3.2?

Ideally, yes I'd like the same thing, but I'll need help because I'm so new to
Debian.

So if it makes sense for Ubuntu and doesn't harm Debian, then it would be
acceptable to patch Python in Debian even if it doesn't help much (because
Debian won't have multiple versions of Python 2.x)?
