The live filesystem build often fails during the development cycle due
to uninstallable packages. For instance, if you look on the page for
the Kubuntu 20090310 daily-live CD [1], you'll see that the manifest
file is several days older than the CDs themselves. If you look at
the live filesystem build log [2], you'll see this is due to a bug in
the packagekit package. Digging through the jaunty-changes archive,
you'll find that Steve has since fixed this [3]:
packagekit (0.3.14-0ubuntu4) jaunty; urgency=low
* debian/packagekit.postinst: ignore errors from dbus-send, there's no
requirement that dbus is even running at install time.
Sure enough, the Kubuntu 20080311 daily-live CD has an updated live filesystem.
