packaging desktop theme

I've been learning about packaging for Ubuntu and ran across a
wishlist bug for packaging a desktop theme.  I have only packaged up a
C app which was a little closer to the MOTU documentation and
packaging recipes.  Is there any documentaion related to packaging a
desktop theme?  I started looking at some existing themes and getting
the source to those, but figured I would ask here as well.

Also is there a MOTU mailing list?
