It's just downloading.
Of course, if you've got Popularity Contest enabled (it's an option in the
Advanced part of the installer, and is disabled by default), at some point
information like "this machine has these non-default packages installed and
Banshee is used more often than Rhythmbox" is sent to popcon.ubuntu.com. No
personal information is involved. It's just a metric to see what software is
very popular among users.
