I'm going to pick out this one item as an example of what I view as a
serious problem with the current Dx/Notifications effort.
Kubuntu is primarily developed by community members and AFAIK we have
virtually no insight into this works. I have been working with Quassel
upstream on KDE/Kubuntu integration (including Knotify). If somone else is
working on this I would appreciate to know.
So far all we have to go on are some Gnome focused blog posts. Based on
our limited understanding (which may well be inaccurate) the response from
KDE/Kubuntu users has been overwhelmingly negative.
At best we really misunderstand what's intended. I would encourage you to
reach out and communicate your plans and hear our concerns. Simply writing
a spec and getting it approved by Canonical management is not a recipe for
success. I do hope more is planned.
