Call for testing: nvidia, fglrx drivers

I've been working to solve a long-standing bug with the binary video
drivers. Since they are pre-compiled binaries, they have either missing
or incorrect headers that indicate the driver requires an executable
stack[1]. Based on my limited tested, this may not actually be a
valid requirement. In order to stop the binaries from causing Xorg
to have an executable stack, I am using a tool to force the stack flag
to non-executable.
Since I only have a tiny set of hardware I didn't want to upload this
change to the archive at large until I got successful feedback from
people using any of the test drivers. Please try the drivers in my Karmic
PPA: https://edge.launchpad.net/~kees/+archive/ppa
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kees/ppa/ubuntu karmic main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/kees/ppa/ubuntu karmic main
I'd like to get reports of either failure or success. Please let me
know which driver you're using and which architecture you're using.
The best place to report would be:
fglrx-installer: https://edge.launchpad.net/bugs/409440
nvidia-graphics-drivers-*: https://edge.launchpad.net/bugs/409456
Something as simple as:
"amd64 fglrx-installer works for me"
or
"i386 nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 crashes X immediately"
would be great!
Thanks for everyone's help,
-Kees
