It is 2009 and I am still hearing my pc speaker

Hi

I'm not sure how to report my experiences. I've noticed  my alsa sound  just 
emitting blips on reboot after  two recent updates, cutrrently 2.6.27-11. The 
problem went away when I rebooted a second time, with a reboot -f
