If a contributor is going to push stuff upstream and we want Ubuntu to
be credited as "giving back", then perhaps having them mention it's a
patch based on Ubuntu would be helpful?

It doesn't help in the case of people just looking at the email addresses
of contributors, though, since not everyone has (or uses) an @ubuntu
address.
