apt now installs recommends by default

Hmm, is there an option to apt-get to "not install recommends", even
if installing "recommends" is now the default behavior?

Some people with very small machines (like 1-2GB flash disks) rely on
installing a bare minimal ubuntu (via mini.iso + CLI install), and
then using apt-get to create super-trimmed down systems.

My sniff testing shows that I won't be able to do this anymore, if all
recommended packages are pulled in.
