In regards to the editors, where are the ones I considered from popcon (to
which ~10% of ubuntu users are signed up).

I skipped vim because it's a dependency of ubuntu-minimal, and kdevelop
because it's more fit in kde-development.

1425 eclipse 52726 4785 46371 1542 28 (Unknown)

1953 geany 14057 2250 11387 417 3 (Unknown)

2458 scite 12766 1362 11034 363 7 (Michael
Vogt)
2306 anjuta 28625 1578 26347 696 4 (Rob
Bradford)
3758 codeblocks 3436 499 2686 245 6
(Unknown)

I suppose eclipse doesn't quite fit in either for Gnome development, so it's
between geany and anjuta. It looks like anjuta has a higher installs/usage
ratio than geany, probably because it's endorsed quite a lot. Meanwhile
geany isn't so much but is actually used more, giving it a nice advantage.

I believe it's quite reasonable toconsider Geany as an IDE to be included in
the package for gnome development.

(btw, Eclipse is an issue in Ubuntu, I've seen several unhappy posts on UF
that it's outdated)
