In that case I guess the upgrade-manager needs to rewrite it. I can't 
see any way to guarantee the correctness of the results[1], but for the 
(massively) common case just moving it to /dev/cdrom should be fine.

[1] Think a mixed SCSI/ATA system - we have no guarantees about which 
interface would be preferred in the new kernel
