Hi,
In the pacakge, "gnome-power-manager" depends on
"powermanagement-interface" but g-p-m sends its signals directly to HAL.
I think Ubuntu uses "acpi-support" for handling all ACPI events... "pmi"
is not needed.
I added a bug in HAL to simplify HAL scripts for handling its events.
Also, I proposed that HAL scripts should be provided by the
distributions (each distribution has its own ACPI handlers).
Looking in the scripts and the process, "pmi" is unnecessary.
