Just a quick feedback from a pretty standard Ubuntu user :
I couldn't resist burning the latest ISO of the Live CD to try this
migration assistant, last night. I tried it on 3 different environment :
1) A Windows XP VMware VM
2) An Ubuntu Feisty VMware VM
3) On my "real" machine with 3 OS's (Two hard drives, Windows XP and
Edgy one /hda, and Feisty on /hdc)
In all cases, it never worked.
I didn't take notes so can't say for sure what happened where, but
either ubiquity crashed while starting the migration assistant, or in
one case I did get to see the migration assistant page, but it failed
to detect any OS/users.
I did like the idea though, and I found the GUI user friendly at first
sight, but as my quick experiences showed, it doesn't work at all.
It's not even clear to me if it's meant to import Windows accounts, or
Linux ones, or both.
HTH...
