How long will 64bit Ubuntu users have to wait?

Other 64bit applications on your 64bit system link to Firefox,
specifically the Gecko engine. Epiphany does. Yelp does. Anything with
an embedded browser that uses Gecko does. If a 32bit Firefox is
provided, either these apps must also be 32 bit, or a 64bit Firefox has
to be provided along side of it.

There are issues with both approaches. My feeling is that the
appropriate solution is to allow parallel installs of 32bit and 64bit
Gecko libraries, allowing applications to link against either, but
allowing the user to execute the 32 bit version. Basically, this is what
the multi-arch proposal is all about. And dpkg/apt has to cope with
this.

I'm not volunteering to implement it. And nobody else has. Hence, it
won't be done until somebody does it. ;)
