When pango support is enabled, firefox is *much* slower. Ubuntu uses 
pango for firefox in certain situations, usually when certain locales 
are generated. There is hard data backing up this statement in the bug 
report about this (Ubuntu used to *always* use pango for firefox)- 
scrolling is around two to three times faster with pango disabled. The 
official builds never use pango.
