Ummm...  why?

Speed isn't a valid answer - 64bit binaries can be faster or slower
depending (64bit math is faster on a 64bit CPU, more registers are
available in native 64bit mode, but 64bit binaries tear through cache
twice as fast as 32bit ones do).

Saying you wouldn't run the 32bit version of Ubuntu on principle is
exactly like saying you'd never run the PPC version of Ubuntu on
principle.  There's nothing inherently wrong or different about it.
