Followup: Lack of support for soft RAID

I've burned through a few different distributions on this machine now (ICH5
RAID setup).
Failed
- Ubuntu 6.06 Desktop
- Ubuntu 6.06.1 Alternate
- Gentoo 2006.1
Then I noticed that the home for the DMRaid project is at RedHat, so I
thought, what the heck, I'll try Fedora. I booted the disc and it loaded a
mapper (I assume DMRaid) then asked if I wanted to use this. I specified
yes to use remaining space, then proceeded through the installation.
My point is this distro seems to easily detect software RAID without any
prompting from the user, I'm not positive they are using DMRaid with the
installer but this should be provided with the LiveCD or at the least, be
hackable with the Alternate CD.
And contrary to this similar bug from a year ago:
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/dmraid/+bug/22107
this fix should not be on the Wishlist
My Bug:
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+bug/57860
I think this definately should be an effort that is undertaken, especially
with SATA Raid becoming more popular. Thanks for your help with this so far
everyone!
Thanks,
Scott
