The controller that I am using ICH5 (and I'm sure Intel's newer ICH6) is
recommended by Intel through their website. This is a very common chipset,
I'm using an ASU P4C800-E Deluxe, a very common series of boards.
I tried the Alternate Ubuntu CD before, but tried it just again to make
sure. Again, no luck. I tried both "Configure software RAID" & "Configure
the Logical Volume Manager" options.
For instance gentoo allows an option on bootup: dodmraid, to enable dmraid.
Note this doesn't work for me in Gentoo even, this controller does work
within Windows. I have followed 6+ different guides on how to do this, most
are written for Gentoo but I haven't gotten any of the to work, even in
Gentoo
I'd like to figure out what's necessary so we can write a HowTo for it or
something then hopefully get this built into a future version.
FYI: There is still an active Windows XP partition on the RAID 0 set.
