Drivers that can be obtained without paying could go to
"RestrictedModules" package? Wouldn't that work?  afaik, ubuntu will try
to support all the drivers out there by putting them to "Restricted
Modules" as long as the manufacturer doesn't want to be paid.

I'm hoping that will be picked up :) I remember, just like any other
dial up linux user, the hours I spent trying to figure out what was
going wrong with my little modem (not counting the months I spent to fix it)
