Old spec w. no lovin'

Hi,

I am writing to attract a little bit of attention to this spec:
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+spec/winmodem-support which asks
for winmodem support out-of-the-box. Recently, a user proposed a
dialogue popup which would give some feedback to user upon installation
regarding the user specific winmodem hardware. This seems easy enough
for Edgy + 1? What do you think?

Is anyone interested in this?
