um, I hope that's not what the spec appears to argue for.  I just think
it ought to be easier for users who find that the default option DOESN'T
work for them, to try out other options.  My personal experience, which
I know not to be unique, is that when swsusp didn't work for me, there
were no readily available solutions within ubuntu.  I couldn't debug the
problems I was having because there were no obvious debug messages, and
no available devs to deal with user-level problems that didn't have
decent bug reports. suspend2 was really the only way to go, and it only
worked for me after a fair amount of work.  If one of my friends whom
I've convinced to use ubuntu had been in this situation, I'd have been
embarrassed and apologetic.  That's why I think it ought to be easier to
try non-default methods, and that packages ought to be available in
universe.  I'll try and build some.
