Executable Linux OS image for Thin clients machines

I think what you are looking for is the kernel. that can be found in the
boot directory and is known as vmlinuz-<version> or if you compiled it
yourself as bzimage. For this type of work I highly suggest you compile
yourself. Please read the kernel documentation. A good place to start
would be ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/README
