What do you miss exactly? You should choose a technology to solve a 
problem and
not for its own sake.

There is also a danger in using a lot of bling bling and effects. The user
interface should have a common look and feel - think of Windows where 
nearly no
applications looks like the other. Even the products of MS don't share 
a common
look and feel. This is not good for the user's leraning curve. Furthermore it
should not exclude people relying on the accessibilty framework.
