Power Button change in functionality

I've noticed that in Dapper, manually pressing the power button on the PC brings up the shutdown/change user etc dialog, rather than initiating the shutdown procedure. What is the reasoning behind this? I only ask as for me, when watching a film at night or whatever, its quite nice to be able to simply press the power button, rather than fannying about with a mouse/keyboard.
