I would be interessted in a screenshot about this. I'm not sure if I
fully understand what you mean. Does "only a checkbox" means that the
dialog had no button at all (that seems unlikely)? What where the
buttons/checkboxes labeled with?

Where where those messages printed? In your ~/.xsession-errors file?

Not a lot we can do about this I'm afraid :) I'm happy to hear that it
went fine. Could you please send me (privately) the logfiles from the
upgrade (/var/log/dist-upgrade*.log)? Just to check if it did the
right things?
