| Maybe we can do something like putting the '/home' on the stick and
| leave the rest on the computer HD. Then you can plug it in at home or
| at work and get the exact same feel to you're desktop. Install/upgrade
| of programs should be synchronised of course(maybe automatically with
| apt-get). A plus is that you're not putting the kernel + programs on
| you're disk, so a 128 meg would be large enough.

It seems like you are talking about persistent live CDs, something I
implemented a month or so ago.  See
