UDF support status ?

Hi!

What's the deal with UDF ?

I tried the Dapper Drake live CD (desktop-i386) and found this :
 - half works (can mount, read; can "virtually" write)
 - half is missing (can not format)
 - half causes dataloss (written data is not really saved - bug 51188)

Either it should be scrapped (better have just read-only capability
that works) or fixed.
This doesn't give Ubuntu the "polished" reputation that is desired by
all of aus.
