Shut down menu item, power button top-right of screen

I recall that there was a discussion on the shutdown menu item on
this list a while back.

I haven't been able to download the latest Dapper myself since I've
been rather busy and am currently at work, but I'd like to quote some
criticism that someone posted on Slashdot:

> Do we now treat ubuntu as a single user OS and assume everyone will
> be switching off rather than logging out, or is that not the
> message the sodding great power button and a 'Quit' caption gives?

It's true that a large red power button and a "quit" caption doesn't
really promote logging off. It would seem to me that rewording would
be a good idea for a future update. Again, sorry if there has already
been a debate on this and if such a change has already been
scheduled. Personally, I believe that "End session" might be a good
caption.

As for the second thing: I still don't really agree with that
placement of the big red power button at the top-right of the screen,
right next to the clock. I've spoken about possible mishaps earlier
(not on this list), about how people are constantly clicking the
"close" button at the top-right of the screen and that this could
cause them to accidentally click the quit button if they miss it.
That doesn't exactly happen very often, but it's still not too useful
if it does happen. A new window will pop up, the screen will dim, and
the user is one step away from closing all his programs and ending
his session.

Maybe it's something worth thinking about. Or is that second thing
more suitable to talk about on a different mailing list?

Thanks a lot,
Michiel
