You're right. Everything should be written in arch-specific assembly.
Or Perl. Choose one. No language is right for every class of
software. Languages have strengths and weaknesses which make them
better or worse suited to particular jobs. Mono fills a niche just as
Perl, Python, C, C++, Java, PHP, Lisp, Fortran, and a thousand other
languages do. Get used to it.
