Definately, it's very hard to fix bugs unless they are documented and
reported---and even a switch to Suspend2 would of course require a bug
report to point to say "I believe is a solution".

Can you include the output of:

  cat /var/lib/acpi-support/*-*

and file it with a useful title at:

  https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.15/+filebug

Many Thanks---the aim of Ubuntu is to have everything "Just Work" out of the
box and if that's not the case, then *it is a bug*.
