Dear Ubuntu developers,
please allow me to forward the following email from my professor to
you. The survey talks about software that was opened up and thus it
may not seem to apply much to Ubuntu, which was never closed to
begin with. However, we're still interested in your input because
our focus is not the act of opening the code, but rather the
relationship between the company and the community, in this case
between Canonical and all of you.
If some or all of you would take five minutes of your time (it
really doesn't take longer, it's single page and requires no login
or cookies), it would be highly appreciated! And you might even win
that Nokia 770!
Thanks,
Martin

Dear FLOSSer,
We are doing some research on company-driven open sourcing, whereby
companies release what has typically been a proprietary product as open
source and seek to grow a community of developers around it. Both the
company and the developer community have mutual expectations of each
other, and if these are not fulfilled, the initiative may not be
successful.
We have derived a set of expectations for successful open-sourcing and
would like your feedback on these at
http://www.calibre.ie/survey/index.php
Pre-testing suggests that this questionnaire can be completed in about 5
minutes and you may win a Nokia 770 Internet Tablet.
We would be grateful if you could forward this to any other relevant
parties. We will be disseminating the research results widely (and a
copy would of course be available).
