I am not sure this is the appropriate place to start asking about the
problem below, so please accept my apologies in advance if it is not and
kindly point me to a better forum.

I'm running breezy with a pretty generic x86 configuration. Sometimes when
I start XMMS, the X server immediately crashes and goes back to GDM. But
only sometimes. Most of the time it works great. This has been happening
for a long, long time (several years) through different versions of X and
XMMS (I used Debian prior to Ubuntuizing my machines) and many different
hardware configurations. But it only seems to happen with Matrox video
cards.

Removing the ~/.xmms directory always solves the problem so it's been a
minor nuisance that is easy to work around. This morning I got more
irritated than normal. I copied the bad ~/.xmms directory before removing
it and compared it with a good one that was written from a fresh launch of
XMMS. The only difference appears to be this:

  --- .xmms/config	2006-01-16 09:27:01.000000000 -0800
  +++ .xmms-crashx/config	2006-01-13 16:28:02.000000000 -0800

Please let me know how I can work with the development team to get this
issue resolved.  Thanks!
