Installing from Windows

Hello everyone!

I just want you to know that I started a project, that
could be of your interest, called "instlux", some
months ago.

"Instlux" is a linux from windows installer, that is,
an installer that runs on a windows box, that installs
linux without booting from a CDROM.

The idea came from the ubuntu wiki pages, when I
couldn't install linux on my laptop booting from the
CDROM. I followed the instructions on

Moreover, it follows some of the indications on :

And it could fit the goals on:

Since the first version was on sourceforge
(2005-11-13), it has been downloaded 650 times
(2006-01-10).

I believe there is enough interest on it in order to
go on with the project. So my intentions are to go on
with it on my free time.

However, it would be very interesting to have some
help on it, so I invite anyone willing to participate
to join me on this project.

Best wishes,

jordi massaguer pla
