Willing to contribute to Ubuntu / Open Source : My introduction

Since the Ubuntu page mentions that one must introduce oneself to the
others via the mailing lists. So here it is

Location: Bangalore, India
Education: Currently in final year computer engineering.
Distro: Ubuntu Breezy
Skills: C, C++
Tools: Fluent with Glade (with libglade and C)

I am willing to work as an Ubuntu developer to my bit for the community
The only thing i expect in return is some guidance on how to get
started.
(Eg i want to contribute bugfixes to GNOME. But how do i do it?)
