The UP and SMP kernels have been unified in Dapper, at least for i386
and amd64. The kernel automatically tunes itself. So, yes.

The reason we didn't do this in the past was purely space restrictions
on the CD; netboot installs always installed an SMP kernel if
appropriate. This still applies to powerpc which hasn't had the UP/SMP
auto-tuning ported to it yet, but no longer to i386 and amd64.
