You're thinking about it incorrectly. Ubuntu Server is comprised of a
considerably smaller set of packages than the desktop edition; 3 years
after Dapper is released, the packages in plain Ubuntu that aren't in
Ubuntu Server stop being supported. Of course, any packages that were in
Server but not plain will also have the full five years of support.
